Autumn… The weather gets chilly, the leaves start to change, everything pumpkin spice and apple cider is available, I start dressing like I belong on Twin Peaks. All of these things are wonderful, but my favorite part is the lipstick. Put away the pinks, it’s time for those darker shades and of course NUDES!
As a woman of color, it’s hard to find the perfect nude shades, and I personally don’t like applying a lip liner, so I am sharing my own little collection. Check out this list of WOC friendly nudes.

Ok. This one is sheer, but with a beautiful brown undertone. This is Flesh Makeup’s Fleshy Lips lipstick in Gorge ($18). A couple months ago, I reviewed the Nars lip balm which has a peach undertone. I wanted something that was comfortable and nice for fall that I could wear to work and not feel too made up. I think the whole line would work for WOC due to the sheer application.

This is another one I wanted for work. It’s comfortable and sheer, but much more pigmented than the Flesh Makeup lipstick. This is the Maybelline Color Sensational Shine Compulsion Lipstick in Chocolate Lust ($8). I purchased a couple of these, but this one is my favorite going so well with my skin tone. I honestly think this is the best color for WOC in the line though.

If you are a WOC and have not tried Mented, you need to run to their site NOW! Every lipstick color on the site is the perfect nude for ALL shades. They have matte and satin lipsticks at reasonable prices. I prefer matte. Nude La La ($18) is a perfect every day lip shade that I find myself reaching for quite a bit. It’s described as “the perfect pink for darker lips” and I must agree.

Oh Pat McGrath… How I love thee. I needed this shade when I first saw it. Flesh 3 ($38) is the perfect deep rose shade from her Mattetrance line. The pigmentation is absolute perfection. Pat McGrath lipsticks are bit expensive, but totally worth it with their awesome pigmentation and ability to stay put! This shade is absolutely gorgeous.

And another Mented! This is another one that is perfect for an everyday lipstick, Dope Taupe ($18). I reach for this when I want something a little muted and flesh toned. This is a great shade for when I want that throw back 90s look 🙂

This one is my FAVORITE LIPSTICK. It is pure perfection in my eyes. Literally the perfect brown. Another from Pat McGrath, Leatherette is a beautiful chocolate shade with a slight red undertone. I feel it doesn’t get much love on the internet. I’m here to change that. Part of the Luxetrance line, it’s a bit creamier but still highly pigmented. EVERY. SINGLE. BROWN and BLACK GIRL should own this color. If you’re looking at this list and wondering which to get, this is it. I know it’s a little expensive, but you’ll thank me later. ❤
Note: Fenty Beauty has a similar shade, but I prefer the pigmentation and application of Pat McGrath. Check out Shawty!

Last, but certainly not least, is another Pat McGrath shade, I feel does not get enough love, She’s So Deep. I wanted a perfect deep brown, that wouldn’t apply patchy or look messy on my lips. I think my sisters with deep skin tones will love this one. I love this color for those chilly nights out.
Note: I believe Fenty Beauty has a similar shade. Check out PMS here!

That’s my list! Let me know which ones are your favorite and what you think I should add to my collection!
always.
